File a Tire & Rim claim.
Road hazards like potholes and debris can leave you with a damaged tire or bent rim in seconds. If your vehicle qualifies for a claim under your Optiom Tire & Rim policy, here’s how to file.
Contact Optiom as soon as damage occurs so we can walk you through what your policy covers and what to send in.
Coverage when the road bites back.
Potholes, nails, and road debris can damage a tire or bend a rim in an instant — and standard auto insurance typically doesn’t cover it. Your Optiom Tire & Rim policy is designed to handle those out-of-pocket costs so a road hazard doesn’t turn into an unplanned expense.
Tire & Rim claims are handled directly by Optiom, subject to your policy terms and coverage limits. If a covered tire can’t be repaired to safety standards, it’s replaced with a tire of like kind and quality. If a covered rim can’t be repaired to industry standards, it’s replaced with a reconditioned, used, or new rim of like kind and quality.
Sanctioned figures from Optiom Tire & Rim brochure. All amounts include taxes. Term maximums: 3-year $5,000 / 4-year $6,000 / 5-year $7,000.
Documents you’ll need.
Tire & Rim claims share the same baseline requirements as any Optiom claim, plus documentation from the repair facility. Gather these before you call and we’ll typically process your file within 3–5 business days once it’s complete.
Benefits Request Form
Your signed form listing your Optiom policy number, date and type of loss, described vehicle, and contact details. We’ll email this to you when we open your file.
Repair Invoice or Estimate
An invoice or written estimate from the repair facility showing the date of service, the facility’s name and address, and an itemized breakdown of the tire or rim repair or replacement costs.
Damage Documentation
Clear photos of the damaged tire or rim, ideally taken before repair. If your claim includes emergency towing 200km or more from home, add your tow invoice and any hotel or meal receipts (up to $200 per claim).
Vehicle & Banking Details
Your VIN and odometer reading at time of loss, plus a void cheque or PAD form so we can send your payout by EFT wherever possible.
What happens next.
Once your file is complete, most Tire & Rim claims are reviewed within 3–5 business days. Here’s what to expect from submission to payout.
Day 1
We confirm receipt
Email submissions are reviewed in the order received. We’ll confirm what’s arrived, flag anything still missing, and reach out directly if we need clarification on the damage or repair details.
Days 3–5
Claim reviewed
Our claims team reviews the repair or replacement details against your policy’s coverage limits and eligibility conditions. If approved, you’ll receive a payout letter detailing the benefit that will be applied to your claim.
After approval
Benefit paid out
Your approved benefit is paid per your policy terms — either directly to the repair facility where possible, or reimbursed to you via EFT wherever we can. You’ll receive confirmation once the payment is issued.
