WHAT YOUR POLICY PAYS

How Appearance Protection pays out for you.

Appearances matter. Even small dents, dings, and interior tears can affect your vehicle’s appearance and its long-term value. Appearance Protection helps preserve your investment by making it easy and affordable to repair minor damage quickly, so it stays looking good for years to come.

Your policy covers three benefits: Paintless Dent/Ding repair for minor exterior damage, Upholstery repair for interior damage, and Glass Deductible Reimbursement to offset the deductible you pay to your primary insurer on a glass claim. Coverage limits depend on whether you have a 2-year or 3-year policy.

  • Paintless Dent/Ding repair — minor exterior dents up to 2″ x 2″
  • Upholstery Protection — spills, stains, rips, tears, scuffs, burns, scratches, pet damage

BEFORE YOU FILE

Documents you’ll need.

Appearance Protection claims start with clear photos of the damage and a repair estimate from your technician. Glass Deductible claims also need your primary insurer’s settlement documents. Gather these before you call and we’ll typically process your file within 3–5 business days once we have everything.

Benefits Request Form

Your signed form listing policy number, date the damage occurred, described vehicle, and which benefit you’re claiming — Paintless Dent/Ding, Upholstery, or Glass Deductible. We’ll email this to you when we open your file.

Photos of the Damage

Clear, well-lit photos showing the dent, stain, tear, or other damage from multiple angles, plus a wider shot showing where on the vehicle the damage is located.

Repair Estimate or Invoice

A written estimate or completed invoice from your technician describing the damage and the cost to repair it. For Paintless Dent/Ding, the technician needs to confirm the dent doesn’t exceed 2″ x 2″. Call us before authorizing any repair work.

Glass Claim Documents

For Glass Deductible Reimbursement only — a copy of your primary insurer’s settlement statement showing the deductible you paid, plus a void cheque or pre-authorized debit form for EFT payment.

Your approved benefit is paid per your policy terms — either directly to the repair facility where possible, or reimbursed to you via EFT wherever we can. You’ll receive confirmation once the payment is issued.

Appearance Claims FAQ

Questions we hear most about Appearance Protection.

Answers to the questions we hear most often when you need to repair minor damage to your vehicle. Have something specific? Call us at 1-844-427-7587 before booking any repair work.

Your policy covers three benefits. Paintless Dent/Ding covers minor exterior dents up to 2″ x 2″ in diameter, as determined by an Authorized Technician. Upholstery Protection covers interior damage from spills, stains, minor rips and tears, scuffs, burns, and scratches — including damage caused by pets. Glass Deductible Reimbursement reimburses up to $500 of the deductible you pay to your primary insurer on an eligible glass claim. Like all products, there are limitations and exclusions — all coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of your contract.
Repair work must be completed by a qualified technician, and for Paintless Dent/Ding the technician must be an Authorized Technician who can confirm the dent falls within the 2″ x 2″ size limit. Contact us before booking any repair work so we can walk you through the requirements for your specific benefit.
Appearance Protection covers minor cosmetic damage only. Paintless Dent/Ding is limited to exterior dents that don’t exceed 2″ x 2″ in diameter — larger dents, or damage requiring paintwork, panel replacement, or bodywork, fall outside the benefit. Upholstery covers minor interior wear from spills, stains, tears, scuffs, burns, and scratches, but not structural damage or full component replacement. Structural or collision damage should be reported to your primary auto insurer.
There’s no deductible on the Paintless Dent/Ding or Upholstery benefits — your policy pays repair costs up to the maximum benefit per claim. On a 2-year policy, that’s up to $3,750 per claim (2 claims max) for Paintless Dent/Ding, up to $3,750 per claim (2 claims max) for Upholstery, and up to $500 (1 claim max) for Glass Deductible Reimbursement. On a 3-year policy, that’s up to $5,000 per claim (3 claims max) for Paintless Dent/Ding and Upholstery, and up to $500 per claim (2 claims max) for Glass Deductible.
Yes. Clear, well-lit photos of the damage from multiple angles are required, along with a wider shot showing where on the vehicle the damage is located. When you call to open your file, we’ll walk you through exactly what photos and paperwork you’ll need for your specific benefit.
Under the Limitations Act, you have up to two years from the date of the damage to report your claim, submit your paperwork, and settle. That said, Appearance Protection requires pre-authorization before any repair work begins — so the moment you notice covered damage, call us at 1-844-427-7587 before booking a repair.
A quick safety note
Optiom will never ask you to pay a fee to process your claim. If someone claiming to be from Optiom requests payment to release your benefit, hang up and call us directly at 1-844-427-7587.
